Have a Cute Weekend!

Alyssa and I are both PA bound this weekend.  She'll be making a trip home to hit up the original casa de cutie and I'll be heading out to the Poconos to spend a relaxing weekend with friends.  This is my first trip out to the Poconos since my wedding so I'm sure it will bring back some fun memories.  Too bad my mister has to stay in the city to work!

May we all be on our best behavior!

Snow/Work Day

Hey Cuties!
Lots of snow in Brooklyn today but that doesn't stop the subway.

Australia Day...Why Not?

Happy two hours after Australia Day!

No, I'm not Australian but, why not celebrate anyways?! Plus I have an Australian roommate and we couldn't let him miss out on the festivities, right? That would just be cruel. So, we put on our snow boots and trekked through Brooklyn to a friend's for what other then an indoor barbecue? (the whole indoor barbecue seemed like a much better idea when we were a few drinks deep a week earlier) But, despite having to hang out in a smoke filled apartment, and leaving smelling like fire and beef, it was a very successful endeavor. The food was colorful and delicious. Although I was slightly disappointed when I was informed that the "blooming onion" isn't really an Australian cuisine. Next year we're going to Outback Steakhouse.

(shrimp and veggies)

(the biggest, baddest steak in town...and by bad I mean really good)

(My friend Brittany and I getting into some shish kabobs)

After dinner it was time for some TimTams (yummmm city) annnnd some intense games of Mario Kart. Overall it was a very successful night. Thank you Australia :)

And as for our midnight stroll home...

Alright folks...PJs inside out...this girl needs a snow day.

More Snow

href=
It's another cold, snowy day in Brooklyn, featuring a mix of snow, sleet, rain, and thunder (yes, thunder.)

I know we're all haaating the snow right now, but is it wrong that I still get a little thrill whenever we have a Winter Storm Warning? Even if there's no payoff (but maybe this will be the time!), it's still all so exciting.

I got these Sorels for Christmas last year and I thought I'd never wear them, since they seem more suited for the Alaska tundra than a trek to the subway. They are so big and heavy, they literally pull my socks off every time I take them off. But I guess I underestimated the winter of 2011! I think I've worn them at least once a week so far this winter, and it looks like they'll be making another appearance tomorrow. This is their resting place in the hallway so they don't track dirt in the house.

Mister just came home and brought a surprise dinner from the new mac and cheese place that opened in our neighborhood. He customized two creations for us, bacon, corn and onion mac and cheese, and ....wait for it....hot dog, scallion and pumpernickel crouton mac and cheese (yum?). I'll spare you any food photography tonight, but suffice to say we are very much looking forward to dinner. Lucky for him, I brought home dessert from Rite Aid in the form of a heart shaped box of Reese's Peanutbutter Cups!

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow!

But...I'd rather be here..

Meeting of the Minds

Hey Cuties!
Tonight we got together to discuss our BIG PLANS for Couple o' Cuties. Alyssa and I are so excited to jump into blogging, and we've had lots and lots of boozy meetings to plan our big entrance!

Tonight we decided to focus on DOING and really take things to the next level.

(yum)

I whipped us up a quick dinner of pierogies and applesauce so we could get down to work. Even though the meal required only three key ingredients (pierogies, applesauce and onion), I had to visit three different stores on the way home! Frustrating, yes, but I didn't even cry.

(water is for DOers!)

Alyssa was way impressed by my sisterly skills and we sat down to dinner. Rule number one of DOING vs. saying - no wine!

(am I pretty enough for the interweb?)

We did a quick makeup check in the bathroom to make sure we could live up to all the cuteness in the blogosphere.

(hard worker)

We tried to listen to some music while we worked but I couldn't figure out the speakers without my mister, so cest la! We decided to work in front of the TV instead because blogging is always easier (harder) when distracted by the likes of Teen Mom and The Bachelor! Now we are cranky, feeling like a couple o' NOT SO cuties, and wondering if we will be successful in our attempts to share this space. Time will tell.
