Sonogram Today!

Hi Cuties,
Today, we had another sonogram!  It has been so long since we've seen the baby, and we were so nervous and excited.  The mister and I met for a quick lunch first and we were both pretty much just overflowing with excitement.  The excitement ebbed a little bit after waiting about 45 minutes in the BLAHest waiting room ever, but then we were in!
It is always such a relief to see the little guy and today we got to see his little face and he opened his little mouth!  It was so cute.  Now, if you'll recall,  the reason we had to go back for another sonogram is because the doctor thought I might be ten days behind my due date.  After leaving my last appointment, I realized this assertion was a bit odd since I had a dating sonogram in the first trimester and first trimester sonograms are supposed to be the most accurate.  The fact that we had another sonogram scheduled perplexed my regular doctor as well (who told me, "don't worry until you have to." thanks, obviously you know me so well.).  Well, today, the technician was beyond befuddled as to why we were there!  Go figure.  The baby is 2 1/2 pounds, perfect for 28 weeks, so we are on track for a B Day of 2/19.  I can't believe how much growing he (and I) have left to do.
It's third trimester time.  Home stretch.  Wish me luck!

Birthday/Turkey Weekend

Hi Cuties,
This weekend was fun but quite a whirlwind!  Somehow we managed to host 43 people for Thanksgiving (we meaning my parents), create a massive birthday party weekend for my dad, and buy a new car (I won't comment on any work items but suffice to say there were also some work items.)
My dad's 60th birthday was the day before Thanksgiving and we'd been planning the celebration for a while (believe me, back and forth emails between 5 siblings, one husband, and one stepmom is not the most seamless way to party plan.)  The challenge was how to make the birthday feel special and not just like another Thanksgiving.  My dad loves his "to do" lists so on Wednesday at his kick-off birthday weekend dinner we presented him with his birthday "to do" list, comprised of mostly fun items, including turning Thanksgiving day into a family birthday party, a trip to the fish store to outfit him with all the fixings for a salt water tank, and a kid-hosted game night with all his friends.  I was a little worried that presenting the list at dinner would seem like a "fake" present (a la the ever popular coupon booklet,) and while I think it may have come across that way first, I hope that we ultimately pulled off a good weekend.
In the midst of all the partying our car window was rolled down and would not roll back up and that was pretty much it for me and the mister (and the car.)  Our '95 Toyota Camry has served us well, but ultimately, we could not bring ourselves to put another dime into this car.  And driving around with plastic on the window was also not.an.option.  Plus, there's the minor detail of safety for the baby.  That poor baby would catch a cold with the window permanently down!  So after driving all they way back to the city from PA yesterday, we took a trip over to the car dealership and bought ourselves a new car.  We are definitely psyched to be getting a new car but there is something sad about saying goodbye to an old car.  I can't believe we'll never see her again!
All in all, a crazy weekend and I have a definite feeling it will kick off a crazy month.  So much happening this month and I am so excited for the holidays!

A Day at the Hatchery

Hi Cuties,
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We combined Thanksgiving with my dad's 60th birthday party for one big celebration.  Thanksgiving party pics to come but in the meantime wanted to post some pics from today.   The weather was so nice and we went for a walk at the fish hatchery by our house (yes, the fish hatchery is as exciting as it sounds.)  I don't think we even came close to burning off those Thanksgiving calories, but the fresh air was nice.

Maternity Wear for the Holidays

Maternity Holiday Party

Topshop maternity, $95
Wet Seal high heels, $30
Envelope clutch, $170
Dorothy Perkins tahitian pearl ring, £6.50
Lee Angel Jewelry gold bangle, $80
H&M long earrings, £3.99
Mulberry leather belt, $230

Guys,
Wouldn't this be the cutest outfit to wear to a holiday party, if you were...pregnant?   Safe to say I looked nowhere near as cute today, hence the lack of picture.  After having my blood drawn four times in one day, I think I'm entitled to dream about days when I might be jazzing it up maternity style.  Can't WAIT for the holiday weekend - I really need a break from work and a little bit of time to just chill.  Can't wait.

Sister Dinner

Tonight we had one last birthday celebration for the mister.  We met up with Lyss in Williamsburg to go to our old favorite, Walter Foods. It was a very nice pre-Thanksgiving treat.  I've been trying to cherish these nights when we go out to dinner, especially to places like this that are NOT baby friendly.  Also, am trying to enjoy my dinners with just the three of us, because once the baby comes, Alyssa will need to start fulfilling her new role as babysitter ;)

Happy Birthday, Mister

Hi Cuties,
It was the mister's birthday this weekend and we headed out to Long Island to celebrate with family and friends.   Nothing makes Erik happier than being surrounded by people he loves so he was very happy with his birthday celebration (I hope!)  If anyone deserves to have a great birthday and a great year ahead, it is my guy!  He is a great friend, son, brother and a perfect husband to me, and I know he is going to be an awesome dad.  I don't know what I would do without him.  Happy Birthday, mister!
Check out the cute i phone case I snagged at JCrew for his birthday!

Awkward Pregnant Moment

Tonight I went to a benefit dinner for work and had the most embarrassing moment!  It was a big benefit and all the tables were very cramped and close together. When I got up to leave I realized I couldn't fit between the tables to get out with my belly.  I eventually made it out but not without several dirty looks, a bit of a ruckus, and the phrase "pregnant woman coming through" being used several times.   Ugh, I am exhausted.

Chalkboard Wall

Hey Cuties,
Really working hard this week - if everything can get done at work that needs to get done before the holidays I will be one happy and relieved worker bee.  Sometimes I feel like all I do is plan, plan, plan.  Plan at work and then come home and attempt to work my way through some personal life plans.  I have a feeling the next few months are going to fly by (though I am quite expecting January and February to move very, very slowly).  Trying to embrace all the hustle bustle and enjoy everything going on right now.  Can't wait to set up the Christmas tree!
The good news is we've finally accomplished one of our Life Long Goals...a chalkboard wall.  I know we are, as usual, a little late to this party, but I think I am really going to like this wall (and no, I didn't write that myself.)

Tuesday

Hi Cuties,
Tonight, Lyss, Erik and I headed over to check out the new movie theater in Williamsburg,  Nitehawk Cinema.  It is such a cute fun place.  They serve themed food and drinks (just water for me, yay!)  right in the theater.  We saw Martha Marcy May Marlene and I won't ruin the ending for you (I'll let it ruin itself.)   I was rushing to get out of work and somehow got a horrific nosebleed right in the middle of trying to pack up my stuff.  I was such a mess when I got there but we can at least be thankful it was a dark theater.
Baby Update:  Baby was kicking like crazy today.  Perhaps he is hungry since starting today I am eating healthier or "watching what I put in my mouth" as my doctor put it.  Fun.

Blue Monday

yep, late for work.

I don't know if it is just Monday or what but this day is a lonnnng one.  Had two doctor appointments this afternoon and there just wasn't enough time to get everything else done.  I guess I should get used to it.  Plus, the doctor told me I am putting on weight just a little too quickly, which, um, is a bummer.  Not news to anybody's ears, let's put it that way.  The good news is we have beautiful blue walls now!  Will try to post a before and after pic tomorrow.

A Night in Montauk

Hi Cuties,
The mister and I had a lovely mini-getaway to Montauk this weekend.  It was off-season so we just spent one night there (not too much to do in off-season).  I think we've really mastered the art of the one night getaway, which makes me hopeful for some mini-trips once we have a little one (not that we're planning time away already!! or are we?).  I think that's pretty much it for a babymoon, so hopefully this trip will stick with us for a while.  Check out scenes from Montauk below (in absolutely no particular order, thanks blogger.)

Wedding Night Out

Hey Cuties,
Last night, the mister and I got all dressed up to go to our friends' wedding on Long Island.  Was feeling pretty spiffy in my new dress (which yes, I did accessorize to death.)  The one downfall was my shoes.  Now, I know that 4 inch heels are a bit much for me right now, but these shoes are so cute and I thought they'd be fine.  Too bad they were somehow a bit too big and I was slipping out of them all night!  I find this near impossible to believe since I've recently noticed that my feet have succumbed to pregnancy and seem to be growing just like everyone just loved to forewarn.
But all in all it was a lovely wedding and a lovely night out past my bedtime!

Italian Dinner

Tonight we met up with some good friends in the city, and ate at Aurora, a super delicious Italian restaurant in Soho right by my office.   Italian food is definitely my "go to" since I've been pregnant.  Wouldn't call it a craving exactly, but I sure have been eating a lot of it.  We ate so much and now I am so sleepy.  Luckily, we took one of my beloved cabs home.  Did you know that you can buy a car seat that snaps into a stroller, which makes it very easy to navigate the city just in case you ever want to pop that car seat into a cab?  Not that the baby and I will be cabbing it up all the time, but you never know.  Do a little shopping in the city, hop in a cab, and head home just in time to watch mommy's shows together.  Sounds like a lovely little (non delusional) afternoon.
Tomorrow the mister and I head out to a wedding on Long Island and we are making a long weekend of it and spending Friday out in Montauk.  I've never been and I can't wait, even if it is off season!  Yay, almost weekend!

Beer Baby

Well, it's Tuesday.  The mister and I had a nice visit with our soon to be pediatrician tonight. Feels good to be finally making some progress on things!
Not sure about this outfit I wore today.  Looks a little beer baby bellyish if you know what I mean.  My stepsister gave me this cute sweater though.  Really haven't had to buy much in the way of maternity clothes yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
