Want It

I know everyone else has them, but I think I really need these shoes, right? What is it with me and leopard lately?
Might need to find a cheaper version though.

Hot Time in the City

I want this bathing suit.  Is that wrong?  It's from Walmart.
Was prompted to do a little swimsuit browsing after Alyssa showed up at dinner the other night with a pile of mix and match bikinis.  I got first pick since I will hopefully have an occasion to wear one this weekend.
If anyone was wondering, it's 4AM and it feels like summer is here because this apartment is an inferno and there is no way I can sleep when it is this hot.   Hoping someone special will help me put in the AC very soon.

Let it Roll

Sorry the blog has been so quiet this past week.  I don't know, I guess I am feeling a little uninspired lately.  Work has been so busy and I really haven't felt like doing much else at the end of the day.  I never really understood how bloggers lost their inspiration before I had a blog.  Now as I see it, there are a few current options, when feeling down and uninspired:

- Join Tumblr like everyone else
- Steal everyone else's pictures and source on this blog
- Post lots and lots of pictures of my and Alyssa's outfits (easier said than done and feels WEIRD)
- Daily diary of angst

The last option is so, so tempting, but will not be entertained.  Looks like it is time for another sister meeting of the minds.

The good news is Real Housewives of New Jersey is back and the first episode was epic.  Lizzie Grubman!  And that final scene where Teresa's brother was weeping "You're my faaather.."  That was amazing.

Hope everyone is soldiering through this rainy Spring.

Fair Weather Hair

It's good to know that some people are benefiting from all this crappy weather.  Look how curly Alyssa's hair is!  She thinks she looks like Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.  And she really does!  No fair.  I tried to think my hair curly today too, but it didn't work.  I'm very jealous.
Hope everyone else's hair is holding up this well in this weather.

Surprise Saturday

This weekend the rents paid a special visit to C and I in the big city. We were hoping to be lucky enough to get them for lunch but, to our surprise we got a whole family filled day:)  Planning a day full of impressive activities usually sends Carolyn and I straight into panic mode.  However, this surprise visit brought out the super fun spontaneous sisters in us.  We met them at the High Line for a morning stroll before brunch and took some cute pics.  We then took them to Dos Caminos (our staple) for some drinks and grub.  Never fails.

After stuffing our faces we decided it'd be best to walk uptown...our destination...Broadway!  The rents came equipped with four tickets to the broadway musical "Catch Me If You Can."  But, before we could make it to the theater we of course got sidetracked by a little shopping.

The show was great and the day was fab. Wish we could do it more often!

Weekend Links

Looks like Friday links will be Saturday links since Blogger was down yesterday (and deleted my shoe post for me, ballsy move.) Yes, we're doing links now. As I've said before, I just want to be like all the other girls.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Lyss and I are having a surprise Saturday with the parents. They are coming into the city on a bus trip to see a show and through a series of unexpected events, they will now be spending the day with us as well. Surprise! Get excited, parents! Lyss and I are just a mess of fabulousness on the weekends, so they are very lucky.

The Perfect Heel

I think 3 1/2 inches is the perfect heel.  Sometimes I try to convince myself that 4 inches will work, but it doesn't really.  Certainly not in the city at least.  Unless you want to wear one pair of shoes to work and change into another when you get there.  I don't do that.  A 3 1/2 inch heel is the guideline I use when ordering shoes online, a well refined hobby. In the winter, boots are my go-to shoes and I love them.  So easy.  Once the weather gets warmer, shoes become more of a struggle for me. Especially in NY. We walk everywhere here and every New Yorker knows that panic of getting halfway to the subway and realizing that your shoes just aren't going to cut it.  As I'm already starting to fall into my warm weather shoe dilemma, I am trying to be proactive and find some great go-to Spring/Summer shoes to get me through the next few months.  These guys are on the way here right now.  I hope they turn out to be great city shoes because I am pretty bad (horrible) at returning things.

Sister Sunday

So, this Mother's Day Carolyn and I decided to celebrate Sister Sunday instead.  We enjoyed a lazy brunch outside at Lokal where we ordered matching entrees. Which, I was too lazy to take to pictures of.  Trust me, they looked and tasted delicious.  So did the bellinis;)  After brunch decided to stroll the waterfront and check out the brooklyn flea market.  Honestly, I found it all a little overwhelming.  Way crowded and way to many of the same people if you know what I mean.  We finally escaped and decided to relax on the pier for a minute and soak up some rays. For anyone who knows us, you understand that by soak up some rays I mean burn baby burn.  I definitely had a nice red glow to me at work today. We also mayyy have used our last bits of bellini buzz to shop for some new shades.

This picture is way to intense for me but, its the only one I got.  So go ahead...make fun.

Welp, happy Monday!

Until We Meet Again, Old Clothes

It made me feel good to write about my cowboy shirt the other night.  Now that it has been written, it shall not be forgotten.  I've just filled a bag with old clothing. I'm not going to photograph it and make it all funzo for the blog.  Best not to glamorize these old rags too much, lest they start to retain some of their original luster.  I'll just say, clothing,  you've served me well.  Until we meet again on the racks of some thrift store (and I re-buy you; this is one of my greatest fears,) clothes I''ll miss you, and now, I'll always remember you.  Here, a tribute to you:

1.  Original Jeggings.  You in no way resemble jeans, and you don't even have any faux pockets. We had a nice run that day at the botanic garden, and I have the pics to prove that you make my legs look a little stuffed sausagey.  You are in no way work appropriate for me, but maybe for someone else, in some other sort of job.  I hope you find that special someone.

2.  Gold studded black spandex leggings.  You are super tight, and I still think you are kind of sexy.  I bought you at Target two years ago, and I've never worn you. There is really nowhere, nowhere to wear you and you don't deserve this.  I trust that you'll find someone who can love you the way you deserve to be loved.  Maybe someone who goes to clubs or something.

3. Patchwork Nightgown.  I ordered you online and you are too big and for me. And if you ever do fit me, trust, I won't want to look at you.  Let's take steps to ensure that will never happen.

4.  Red Old Navy Sweatshirt.   Red Old Navy sweatshirt with an Old Navy 94 logo in big sprawling cursive on your front.   I am pretty sure that I didn't even buy you, maybe I even found you abandoned at a softball field and brought you home with me in our Winnebago and have lovingly cared for you the last 12 years.  You were comfortable, and even so, I don't wear you anymore - just foist you on Alyssa when she decides to spend the night and needs a sweatshirt.  Time to fly, red sweatshirt - may you brighten the life of some other lucky girl.  You should be proud of how long you've lasted, considering I never would have bought you and you have an Old Navy logo on your front.

Ugh, I'm getting bored of this already and the mister is getting pissed at me because I stopped cleaning.

5.  Bye, other stuff.  You don't fit and/or are ugly and/or have holes.

On with the purging!

Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  So, while most people are just getting around to celebrating Mexico and all it has to offer, Me and my margharita obsession started weeks ago.  All it take is some nice weather and some good company to get me in the mood for a Mexican fiesta.  My pal Erika and I attacked Dos Caminos at full force last week to celebrate the new heat wave:)

Erika also happened to be prepping to celebrate the royal wedding too.
It seems as though we themed our outfits this night.
Good Grub

Empanadas!
the most important ingredient in a mexican fiesta
Hope everyone had fun night and good luck with a hangover free morning!

Spring Fiending

saw these flowers on the way home. pretty, pretty.

Really, really wishing for a warm sunny day tomorrow. At this point, I am completely reliant on the weather to elevate the health of miss alyssa, who's been sick, and to kick up both of our moods a notch. Feeling the need to revamp my life a bit. The mister and I have had some talks of purging our apartment of junk lately. Purging, I tell you! Scary, I know, but I just want to get rid of all this STUFF. How did we accumulate so much? Where did it all come from? Haha, yes, I know exactly where it all came from (Old Navy, kill me), but still. I managed to get rid of a shirt yesterday. Just one little shirt. It was one of those shirts that were cute in maybe 2002, a corduroy cowboy kind of shirt with pearly snaps and pockets. I'm picturing the era of Juliette Lewis with the spiky pixie cut (hmm, now I'm thinking it's cute again, omg baby tees.) You know what I mean? Like, why? Why did I still need that? I've already tried to get rid of it like 5 times and couldn't do it. But baby, steps I guess. I swear, when pearly button cowboy shirts are all the rage again in two months, I'm just going to cry myself to sleep at night. And then I'm going to go out and buy three new pearly button cowboy shirts to make up for the one. And then what? My purge will have been pointless.

Well, anyway, I'm gonna make a plan and put it up on this blog for all the world to see and it's gonna be great and A NEW ME. I'm going to do that tomorrow maybe. Oooh, I just remembered tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. Whoo hoo! Happy TV watching tonight, kiddos.

One Last Hawaii Post

Okay, one last Hawaii post to cheer up your/my Monday. (Does this cheer anyone up?  Reading about someone else's vacation?  I'm not sure.  I'm not sure it's even cheering me up.) I realize the expiration date has passed on this Hawaii trip, but I loved this part of the trip and if we ever go back to Hawaii, this is where you'll find me.  Erik and I decided to stay one night longer than my parents since we arrived a day later.  Our time share was over on Friday, so we scoured the internet for the perfect place for our Friday night stay.  The Paia Inn, a small boutique hotel in the hippie town of Paia, seemed to fit the bill. From the second we pulled into the parking lot I loved, loved this hotel.  The hotel staff came out to greet us and show us our upgraded room, which was the frickin' cutest two bedroom suite. My parents had a late flight so this was perfect.  They were able to spend the day with us and get one last beach trip in before their flight back to reality.  I so wish we could have stayed longer.  After we settled in, the super nice woman at the front desk led us down a winding path to the most beautiful, practically private beach.  I am missing Hawaii so much just thinking about it, but I am so grateful we had such a great last night. If anyone goes to Maui, I highly recommend the Paia Inn, even if it is just for a night or two.

Cute rooms.  These pics don't do them justice.  each room had one of those sound machines that sounds like the ocean and I LOVED it.  Almost as much as fake flowers.  I might get one for our room here.
Each room also came with a cute lil' beach bag and beach towels.
Path down to the perfect beach.  Note, this was only part of the path.
Beautiful beach at the end of the path
Okay, not totally deserted

Delicious breakfast prepared for us in the courtyard the next day.  La di da, i know.

Bye, perfect beach, perfect vacation! Until next time!

Birthday Celebration

Heya Cuties,
This weekend the mister and I went out to Long Island for his mom's 60th birthday.  Erik's mom, Linda, was looking for a lovely, low key celebration so she arranged for a family dinner at a local italian restaurant and the food was delicious.  After, the plan was to retire to Erik's parents house for some dessert. We hoped to amp up the 60th birthday celebration a bit with some surprises so Erik, his sister and I (sort of, via ideation) put together a "through the years" video featuring pictures from the last 40 years or so.  It was a big hit - tears all around. I also crafted together some favors. Erik's mom is insanely crafty so I just hoped to do her justice. I am a huge sucker for fake flowers.  I used to buy them all the time in high school for myself and decorate my room.  I realize there is a fine line between cute and tacky with fake flowers, but I'm just going to keep trying until I figure it out.  See the results below:
fake flowers, love love
fake flowers packed in a bag for the trip to LI.  Sort of looks better than the actual favor.
We filled the pots with M&Ms so there was no pressure to let the fake flowers live on until the end of time, as they are apt to do.
One for each couple!
E & I were the lucky winners of the blue flower pot.

What else, what else on this Sunday night?  I've gotten into watching TV on my ipod on the way to work (don't worry, I'm not driving,) and I think I am going to take on Twin Peaks once I'm all caught up on this season of Survivor.  I'll let you know what I think.  It may take a while.  Also, Lyss and I are having a CoC meeting this week to talk about (maybe) adding some order to this blog and also what exactly it's going to take to get our etsy shop off the ground.
